The beginning of this movie reminds me of "Pitfall."

In Pitfall, Dick Powell complains to his wife about "Mr. Routine." He wants to know if the world would stop if they just drove to South America. In Good Neighbor Sam, Jack also complains about the sameness of the daily routine - same car jams, etc.
