If you liked Good Neighbor Sam-also recommended is...

I vividly remember seeing "Good Neighbor Sam" at the theater when I was 8. I remember it as being really delightful. It fit the style of alot of 60's comedies that I enjoyed at the theater as a kid. If you like this movie you would probly also enjoy "Boy What a Wrong Number" with Bob Hope and Phyllis Diller, "With Six You Get Egg Roll" with Doris Day,"How to Murder Your Wife" which I think also srarred Jack Lemmon."The Apartment"with Jack Lemmon. Also,"It's A Mad Mad Mad World"with an all star cast. And one that I recently saw again and found it as clever as always was "A Guide For The Married Man" with Walter Mattheau & Robert Morse. I wish that these movies would resurface and become easily accessable, such as on TMC or at the local library or video store.

All,except "Boy Did I Get A Wrong Number", have been released on DVD.

How to Murder Your Wife with Jack Lemmon is quite good. Terry Thomas nearly steals the show.

malindalueu - I was 9 in 1964 and love all of the movies you mentioned. What a blast from the past remembering those. :-)

Yeah, ditto for me (9 in '66). Brought back memories of going to the drive-in with the family, my brother and I always got to climb up on top of the family station wagon with gobs of popcorn and candy, it was great fun.
Got to see most of the movies you mentioned, also saw all of the 60's era 007 flicks, Mary Poppins, Chitty Chitty Bang Bang, Son of Flubber and I don't know how many other great movies from that period. Seemed like almost everything could be viewed by the whole family back then, of course their were some exceptions.

I was born in 1973, but I am in love with the early 1960s genre of movies/music. Maybe you can help me out. I saw a movie long ago that featured the protagonist who was recording his audio journal into a miniature reel to reel tape recorder in his back yard. He had a rebellious daughter who was dating a motorcycle type guy. I thought I remember reading in the TV Guide at the time (tells you how long ago I saw this) and I thought it said "The Hardest Years" and I /thought/ it was released in 1967, and I /thought/ it starred Bing Crosby - But I really don't know. Do you know by any chance what movie I'm speaking about???

I believe you are referring to "Impossible Years" starring David Niven, Lola Albright, Chad Everett, and beautiful Christina Ferrara (?) when she was a teenager. Niven plays a psychiatrist trying to be true to his convictions and still maintain some control over his daughter, the incredible babe. The theme song by the Cowsills is an excellent example of pop music from the era, and is quite pleasant. The movie is a variation on a theme explored a couple of years earlier by "Take Her She's Mine" starring Jimmy Stewart as the harried father and Sandra Dee as the daughter. Robert Morley appears in this in some of the best comedic scenes in film history (personal opinion). Oddly, the "Impossible Years", a much more obscure movie, is available on DVD, while "Take Her She's Mine", pretty mainstream, was but is no longer available on DVD.

Saw Good Neighbor Sam for the first time last night, at 45, and just loved it. 9/10 Truly IMHO a film that should be considered among the classic comedies of the 60's. Can't believe it's not better known or admired. I'd take this instead of overrated, non-funny drivel like It's a Mad, Mad, Mad, Mad World any day of the week.
