Why did Oddjob want to die in the vault?

Remember Goldfinger's plan to create economic chaos in the west. Oddjob was obviously from the east and wanted to die for the cause I suppose.

Oddjob was fanatically loyal to Goldfinger to the point where he was willing to die to make sure his plan succeeds. He didn't just not try to get out of the vault, he wouldn't let anyone defuse the bomb either.

Why did all those Japenese guys go Kamikaze, diving their planes straight into US battleships?

Why does some extremist blow themselves up on the London tube?

Why did some guys volunteer to suicide bomb Hitler (google Rudolf Von Gersdorff)?

If they're loyal enough to the cause/man, or hate the opposition enough, they will do anything.

He couldn't get tee time at Camp Red Cloud, Uijeongbu, Korea.

"Golf is not yet the national game of Korea."

But it is now.

Did Oddjob even understand what was happening? Goldfinger could've just ordered him to "stay put for a while" in the vault and leave.


"I'm not reckless . . . I'm skillful!"

Maybe he was gay for Goldfinger.

He was loyal to Goldfinger to the point to sacrifice his own life to make sure that Goldfinger's plan succeeded.

I always thought the reason why he was willing to die for the cause was because of the economic chaos it would bring to the western world.
