What is that car?!

The Rolls Royce in this film is the single coolest car I have ever seen onscreen and off. I'm wondering if there are any car or film buffs out there who know more about it.

The car in question is a Rolls-Royce Silver Wraith (chassis #LELW74) with a one-off body (body #10175, design #8449) by Hooper & Co. of London. It was delivered in 1956 to the eccentric Armenian-born British oil tycoon Nubar Gulbenkian, who had already had Hoopers build a couple of outlandish Silver Wraiths for him. This one's most bizarre feature is the transparent perspex roof, which incorporates a folding fabric sunshade. Hoopers built another Silver Wraith with a similar perspex top for King Paul of Greece, first cousin of Prince Philip, in 1959, although that top was detachable. Gulbenkian used his car when he was in France, then sold it, presumably in that country, after which it was used in the movie. The car is illustrated on page 113 of the book "Rolls-Royce: the Elegance Continues" by Lawrence Dalton (Dalton Watson 1971). It is currently advertised for sale at Frank Dale & Stepsons, West London, at a price rumoured to be around £150,000.00 «http://www.frankdale.com/carView.php?carID=628» but it is also reported to have been sold by Bonhams auction house at Retromobile in Paris in February 2008 for €275,000.00.

WOW, thanks for this elaborate reply. I was wondering also about that fancy car and never expected to get such detailed information about it. If only all the answers here were like yours...
