Lola fascine

Lola Albright in this film is maybe the sultriest woman I've ever seen in any film shot in black and white. Clement truly captures a surreal atmosphere and she fits into it perfectly in a way that the higher all-encompassing archetype of the woman transcends who she may or may not be on a mere personality level. Same thing happens to Jane Fonda. Under Clement's direction she totally transcends herself and becomes this eternal young girl. The femme fatale and her understudy. The whole film is bizarre and works on a mythic level, like a dream Delon gets lost in and can't wake up from that turns into a nighmare.

When I sold my DVD of this film for a hundred bucks a while back on Amazon, Brian De Palma bought it !
