Title

The title for this movie doesn't really seem to fit with the movie itself.

"Surf's Up" would have made more sense or "Whoa Daddy".

Were/Are these names taken?

Anyways, it was entertaining!

That was Pepsi-Cola's slogan--and song--in the 1960s. It was sung to the tune of "Makin' Whoopee"--"You've got the right one...The modern light one...Now it's Pepsi...For those who think young". Maybe the title was a form of product placement?

I think you're right - Pam Tiffin clearly and distinctly ordered a Pepsi at the Silver Palms near the beginning of the movie. (I also noticed the Baskin-Robbins logo prominently displayed a few minutes later.) Too bad so much of this film is so dull - I'm surprised that Pepsi thought that this would be good for their image!

Such blatant product placement was still rare in the early 1960s, so these were pretty obvious. Still, it does kind of add to the realism at times, instead of having fake logos and products hanging around. And people do say, "I'll have a Pepsi" once in awhile in real life. It's too bad that the product placement schtick is so ridiculously overdone in contemporary films.

I thought you were going to refer to the ages of the actors portraying young college students/surfers. Darren and Sinatra look a little too mature to be a part of the college crowd. But Pam Tiffin and Tina Louise are drop dead gorgeous in their roles. Darren and Tiffin were decent, but I prefer the Frankie Avalon and Annette Funicello beach movies.
