R.I.P. Martha Hyer 1924-2014

Martha Hyer, the last surviving lead passed away May 31, 2014. She was not a Wells character of course, but made the film much more interesting than the book for me.

What has Verne got to do with an adaptation of an H.G. Wells novel?

Anyway, Martha Hyer is stunningly beautiful in this film.

Got me! Fixed it.

Yes a belated RIP!

Just noticed that she had passed. Funny because I was just watching "The Sons of Katie Elder". She had such youthful genes! She was 40! when she was in FMITM! She could play roles much younger than her actual years.
I liked her face. It was a nice face.
Seems as if she retired in 1974 at 50. Was she sick? With those genes she could have acted till she died!

Sad news. I dvred this film a while back and I'm watching it now. DirecTV lists the cast and their birth and death dates, but they still show her as alive. Obviously they will changed this since my recording is from before her death.
RIP

DirecTV ... Obviously they will changed this ...
Don't count on it too soon. When I had DTV there were stars that had been dead for several years without any death date listed. I believe Edward Judd who died in 2009, was one of them.

The long wig she wore in the film made her look so much younger that I was shocked to learn she was actually older than Lionel Jeffries!
