What makes the 'SPECIAL EDITION' DVD special?

I'm thinking of buying a DVD copy of the film, and I see they have a SPECIAL EDITION version...

Does anyone own it, or know what that is about? I don't think I've ever purchased a SPECIAL EDITION movie before...what does that mean? I couldn't find any explanation at Amazon... *I be stumped and stuff!*
