Unanswered questions galore.

Just seen this film, and cracking though it was it did leave me asking a few questions.

Who were the invaders and were their motives simply to destroy life on Earth?
Who exactly was Taggert? Why was he acting so shiftily? His reaction to Mel burning the money suggested a criminal of some type, perhaps?
How did he survive the gas attack? I don't remember that question being answered.

Thoughts anyone?

I just watches this film last night, loved it by the way. The Invaders, I dunno, it does seem like they were here simply to cause trouble, or really to just turn everyone into mindless slaves really, they would have total control of the earth eventually-and all it's resources.

Taggert was a shady guy, I don't know if the way he survived the attack was anything special, just seemed like a real jerk that was just paranoid to me. I'm surprised he wasn't shown taking the money with him when he tried to leave town

Finished watching the movie just now, and it wasn't quite as bad as i imagined it would be :)

The robots seemed to be intent on turning everyone into zombies for no real reason. So what happens if everyone is a zombie. I don't think they thought their invasion through very carefully! A world full of biped toasters very slowly walking into each other :D

Taggert was very handy with a gun wasn't he? He went out of his way not to tell anyone how he managed to stay alive.Maybe he was in some sort of police cell and managed to get hold of the keys to let himself out. Or maybe he was in the process of committing a crime, when everyone else died.

I think regarding Taggart the film must have been cut because Peggy's explanation that they had nevber met before can't be true either. He mentions that they had a bargain to go away and he doesn't strike me as the sentimental type. The main question is why were only some perople turned into zombies?

the film focuses on a small group of people in a small town, they're not going to know why the robots were there but were able to figure out that they operated on a certain frequancy. They're just average people who happened to be breathing different oxygen at the time. As for Taggert and Peggy, im guessing he found her and they made a pact that if they didn't find anyone they would be together, i think He just wanted her for himself in the end and as for what he was, i don't think he was a major criminal, just someone who saw an oportunity...

Right you must be, good reasoning. For what it's worth I don't think any explanation is actually needed. The way the characters act in this compact little story is pretty much how most would react under similar circumstances. They were very lucky though, that a wise Know All American chum just happened to be in the neigborhood and know which end of a rifle to use. The USA to the rescue, as usual.

Absolute perfection in the face of woofing!
