I just watched this last night was thinking that this movie would make for a good drinking game....take a shot everytime Mansfield says "Crackers!"

my favorite line: "I got a pash for the cash!"

"It Rub's The Lotion On It's Skin Or Else It Get's The Ho(r)se Again"I Can (aka ThrownMuse)

reply

'Your mother must have made love with an elephant' was another good line.

That was where I turned off the TV. "Crackers, you're cute!" Oh, my God.....

I've just watched this and really enjoyed it. The picture quality was excellent as well. Its good to see that one of Jayne's later period pictures wasn't complete dreck like 'The Fat Spy'.

I ordered it taking a chance and the gamble paid off which I'm happy about. I think I'll have to watch it again soon because I'm sure I missed some of the lines being thrown about.

I wonder if the Biloxi mention was actually in the original film, seems odd and incredible it would have been - you'll note Jayne's character is not facing the screen when the line is said. Of course, Jayne died leaving a Biloxi appearance in 1967.

I've had this dvd for almost a decade and FINALLY watched it last night! I thought the dubbing was not good and very curious why everybody was dubbed when it's obvious they are (at least Jayne, Cameron, and Dody) are talking in English - I suspect it the English speaking people spoke in English, the actors whose native tongues were other languages spoke in their own language and the whole thing was wiped out and redubbed into this and that language later on. It sounds to me like Jayne's own voice is heard on occasion, wasn't paying attention but this may have been in her scenes with Cameron and the other Americans.

I kind of enjoyed it but it was really over the top silly, and thought it was obvious who the main murderer was going to be.

HarlowMGM, I saw the entire film for the first time ever, and listened carefully whenever Jayne spoke. Not a single word of her original voice was used. She was dubbed by the beyond-over-the-top voice artist Carolyn De Fonseca. Not sure if everyone in this film mouthed English words or not.

De Fonesca also dubbed her voice in Primitive Love, The Wild, Wild World of Jayne Mansfield, and The Loves of Hercules (which I STILL haven't seen the English dub of!).

Was Ivor Salter's original voice a British accent? His voice was provided by an American. Also, was this a motor only shot film (no sound was recorded on set, all sound was added in post-production)?

It would be great to get info on the complete English voice cast for this film. These are the only ones I know of:

Jayne Mansfield – Darlene/Mrs. Smithopolis (Voiced by Carolyn De Fonseca)
Cameron Mitchell – Lylle Corbett (Voiced by Dan Sturkie)

In spite of being over-the-top silly, Jayne loved making this film. She said it was the best film she ever made.
