Troy should have gotten more roles like this

This movie proves beyond a doubt that not only could Troy Donahue act but act well! As 2nd Lt. Hazard, Troy Donahue demonstrates a very tough and commanding screen persona. A Distant Trumpet is perhaps his best film. I never thought that Troy Donahue was some beefcake actor obsessed with his good looks. I think he regarded himself first and foremost as an actor and he proves it in this film. I think that with more roles like this he could have eventually transcended his beefcake image and established himself perhaps as a screen tough guy. Hollywood never gave him that chance. A damn shame in my view.
