Troy was a nice guy

When I was a kid in the summer of 1963, my family happened to stay at the same motel as the cast of "A Distant Trumpet". I joined a bunch of kids who asked Troy for his autograph and he signed for everyone with a smile. One kid asked if he minded people asking him to sign and he replied he'd like it less if they didn't ask him. I always thought about that in his later life when he was no longer popular and it was said he had a problem with drinking. But, on that day he made a lot of kids happy and left me with a nice memory.
(Where-as Troy was tall and sunburnt from the filming, Suzanne Pleshette was teeny, wore tons of makeup, and carried around a little dog everywhere she went. My family sat next to their table one night at dinner and she never stopped talking. She seemed like a fun lady.)

Nice story. I remember Troy Donahue and Diane McBain from Surfside 6 on TV.🐭
