Lloyds TSB

The opening music in The Red Desert reminds me of the music in the Lloyds TSB adverts.

Only people in the UK will have any idea what I'm talking about!

You must be mentally disturbed to write a post like that.

You must be mentally disturbed to write a post like that.
Are you a psychiatrist?

reply

Clinical psychologist. Now gin awa' doon the toon n git mi a bottle o thon girder ale, n dinnae hing aboot neither.

reply

Mental disturbed??

That is a ridiculous thing to say. There is a similarity between the two pieces of music and I was merely pointing that out.

If anyone in this thread has issues, it's clearly you.

reply

Who gives a toss? I imagine that less than 1% of the readership of this board has any idea of the similarity. I can't imagine a more irrelevant post.

As a film commenter you make a good roadsweeper. At least you can hum as you go along.

reply

Oh right, sorry! I get it now!

I should only point out a similarity AFTER its been noticed by practically everyone else...

What was I thinking? How could I have been so 'irrelevant'..?

reply

::yawn::

reply

Pretending to be bored of the whole thing...

The typical response from people who start an argument, then lose the argument and won't admit it.

reply

No, it's typical of someone realising that the person they were being rude to is every bit as much of a numbnuts as they thought in the first place.

Lose an argument? What argument?

And trust me, I'm not pretending. ::yawn::

reply

The argument you were trying to start in your first post. At least you admit you were being rude.

I pointed out what I thought was a similarity. You either agree with it or disagree, either way there is no need to become insulting. It reflects badly on you and you're the one thats end up looking like a numbnuts.

reply

Of course I was being rude; I make no secret of that. And I wasn't trying to start an argument, merely postulating that such a stupid post in the board for such an important film was gormless and irrelevant. Which it was.

I was a business customer of Lloyds for years, and I don't even remember the music from the ad. It's a bit like mentioning the brand of varnish used on the deckchairs of the Titanic as the bloody thing sank.

If you don't like it, tuff tit.

reply

If you're rude to someone when you could just as easily make your point in a far more considerate and polite manner, then inevitably you are going to start an argument. Maybe you don't have the common sense to realise this.

Your point about the Titanic IS irrelevant. The varnish used on the deckchairs is nothing to do with the film whereas the music at the start of a film clearly is. That is a fact and it doesn't matter whether you deem Il Deserto Rosso to be an important film or not, that IS an irrelevant point you’re making.

Any point which is in any way related to the film can be posted on this forum and belongs there. If I had posted the same message on the forum for La Notte, for example, then that would have been irrelevant.

You were a business customer at Lloyds – that’s another irrelevant point you’re making.

Why do you raise so many irrelevant points…?

You don't remember the music from the ad - you're not even in a position to agree or disagree with what I wrote!!

The fact is, you were rude, which you even admit to, when there was absolutely no need for you to react in that way. Another user on this forum even posted a message on this thread questioning the way you made your point.

Look at most of the forums on this website, many of the messages are light hearted as mine was mine. Are you going to laboriously track these down and be just as rude to all those that wrote the original messages?

This whole issue has arisen through you being so needlessly rude and offensive.

reply

Why don't you worry about something that matters? You're another one of these boring litle reptiles who think what they say is so important that they never, ever let go of it, instead of laughing it off and moving on.

I've had it with you and your boring attitude. Go back to memorising old music from old ads. Do anything - I don't care.

Out.

I know that internet forums are supposed to have a lot of nasty people who enjoy stirring up trouble, insulting people etc... I'm new to this forum and I've had my first encounter with a first nasty IMDB user. It's bogwart-1

To DC1977: I've seen The Red Desert, I've seen the Lloyds TSB ads and yes there is a similarity, well spotted. Nothing wrong in pointing that out.

To bogwart-1: You seem to be one of those people that likes starting an argument by throwing insults at people for no reason at all and then criticising them for taking offense at your offensive comments. You started this whole issue, you're the one to blame. I hope people like you are in the minority on this site.

"Your stupid original post is so gormless and irrelevant that, instead of ignoring it, I'm going to make sure that the thread goes on for two pages!"

Fine piece of thinking there.
