The very last scene...
I was wondering if anyone had any ideas on the very last scene in which Guiliana and her son view smokestacks spewing yellow smoke. She tells him about the little bird that next time avoids the poisonous smoke. Does anyone take this to mean that she will try to avoid her previous delerium? That's what I got out of it. I suppose it could also have to do with her adulterous behaviour but to me that would undermine some of the film as it is not a movie about an affair IMO at least. Also she seems a bit clearer in this scene so I was brought to think that things might be looking up for Guiliana. However the entire film has her going back and forth between functioning and not.
I know this is a film with no clear answers but it was so interesting I am compelled to ask what others might think.
I've heard that certain MA don't like this film. I think it may be his best.
