The Irony: Edith didnt have to kill for money (spoiler)

Frank Delorca left Edith the equivalent of over a quarter of a million dollars in his will. That would have solved Edith's financial problems.. so she killed her sister for nothing

I know, that's the second big tragedy of this film. I love it...camp and all.

I don't think she killed for money at all - her sister slept with her boyfriend, pretended to be pregnant, then married him. She killed her rich sister when she found out all those years later there was no baby and she'd lied to her and to the man.

I think she'd have still killed her even if she'd known about the bequest - her sister ruined her life by taking the life she should have had.

Yeah, as Jim said, Edith wouldn't kill herself for 3 months back rent.

That amount of money was WAY more than 3 months back rent. It would have set her up for life, for all intents. But that is just a bit of irony thrown in, the knowledge of which would probably not have prevented her killing her sister, since it was done primarily out of vengeance.

Life is a banquet, and most poor suckers are starving to death!
