Nudity?

Is there really nudity in this film? I don't remember any!

reply

It's very fleeting, in the scene where the young couple moves into the castle during the final act of the film. The husband goes off to fetch a bottle of champagne and the wife disrobes and is shown topless for about ten seconds just before the ghost of Harvard attacks her.

Oh yes, My Synapse DVD of Castle of Blood (Uncensored International Version)
has a bit of topless nudity AND just so you don't miss it it's on the chapter card in the DVD case!

great movie. I love the beginning bit of fantasy with Mr. Poe. Delightful.

You're right! I must have missed it when I first saw it! Now I know that I DEFINITELY have the uncensored version!

Interesting. I wouldn't have thought a movie from 1964 would have made allowances for nudity, but it was made in France and Italy where the ratings for what is allowable are no doubt different from what was allowed to be shown here in the U.S. Even today I understand there are different versions of movies depending on what local censors allow in different parts of the world. One movie I remember being 'cut' for broadcast here was "Theater of blood" with Vincent Price. Some of the scenes had a hatchet job done to them. Anyway I remember the 1st time I saw this movie. It was on tv and I may have missed seeing what the title was. I think I was a bit confused later as well because the tv guide and the title shown at the start (during another viewing) didn't match up. Naturally there was no IMDB back then either.

I was pleasantly surprised by the bit of nudity in "Danza Macabre". I noted with pleasure the high degree of pulchritude of the young lady. Very nice indeed, if brief.
