Ahead of it time


Saw this movie YEARS ago, and like the rest, pounded my thigh in hilarity over the script, production values (or lack thereof) and God-awful acting.

Near the end though, when the hero goes into the spaceship and sees all that WWII surplus equipment, I think the voice-over mentioned that the "creature" was not eating people for nourishment, but breaking them down and sending their composition back to Mars. I thought that was the only interesting twist in the movie, but it really hit me years later - and again today - as the Mars Rover is basically doing the same thing - selecting samples, analyzing them, and sending the info back to earth.

Life imitates art - sometimes it just takes a while.
