DVD comparison (video)

I recently came across this split-screen comparison of the original Columbia TriStar DVD from 2001 and the recent Shout! Factory 50th anniversary release on YouTube.

I find it interesting is that while the picture and sound quality has been drastically improved, the new disc restores not only dialogue between Cinderella and the Prince in their first scene, but the CBS station identification, the scene lead-ins, and small fragments of scenes. The latter restoration is particularly interesting, because the editing of certain scenes in the older disc seemed choppy; the new disc seems smoother. It is most noticeable in the Stepmother's line "Now girls, compose your faces!" (on the old disc, it sounds like "Now girl-compose your faces!"

I wonder why that choppy editing was done. Kudos to Shout! Factory for doing such a remarkable job with this disc!
