One of the most pointless cameos in the history of film.

It's the Wild West. The Wild West needs Wyatt Earp.
Hey look, it's James Stewart! James Stewart is in this movie.
James Stewart is playing Wyatt Earp!

They milked it for several minutes, and he shined in a couple of spots, but it was still an incredibly pointless detour. Even so, I still don't think I would have taken it out of the film. Whether I believed him as Wyatt Earp or not, it was still James Stewart.

In the trivia section it states that Ford used that scenario instead of an intermission----Not wanting the people to leave for drinks or a bathroom break

You don't have to stand tall, but you do have to stand up!

It was a mini vignette, a side story that had absolutely nothing to do with the main plot. A bit odd, but rather amusing. Can anybody think of any other movies with something similar?
