Awful rear projection.

I can only assume either scenes had to be reshot or Ford wanted more control in the studio - but on the restored HD version the rear projection is so awful that the characters standing in front don't come across as being in the same Universe.

They are pin sharp while the projection comes across with washed out colours and is out of focus.

The film is decent but does drag on. Going by other reviews I should have just read the book for more accurate description of events.
