Ray's best...

The Apu trilogy had their flaws, especially so in Aparajito. But Charulata is my favourite Ray film thus far...Aranyer Din R. is quite close to the top but not quite... i haven't seen Jalsaghar though.

I think that The World of Apu was the most problematic, but Pather Panchali is a quite perfect movie.

'The World of Apu' was my favorite of the trilogy, though 'Charulata' is right up there with it.

I cherish all of Ray's movies. Although I didn't find Ghanashatu that great. Perhaps it was because I watched it without subtitles and it was extremly difficult to follow the language. I've purchased heaps of his dvds from my trip to India and can't wait to go through them.

Its sad that no other Indian director makes movies that are quite as enjoyable as his. Too bad the Indian public doesn't hold him in high regard. Its bizarre that everyone in India's heard of him but almost no one has seen any of his movies.

I think Ray's best is "Mahanagar". Yeah, me being an Indian, I know that not many people have seen Satyajit Ray's films...too bad for us!

yup thats very sad.... all the youth boast about being Kubrick, Scorsese fans....but many don't even know the quality of ray's works

saw apu trilogy and was impressed with what ray could achieve with almost zero budget & experience...

I think Mani Ratnam couldn't still produce such a masterful cinema....

watched nayak and thought it was ray's best......but charulata completely blew me away ..the way he achieved the sexual tension with nil psychical contact between the characters still amazes me .... ...its a true 10/10..........
