I just read the trivia on this film. Joanne Woodward & Sandra Dee? Oh, can you imagine? I may have nightmares just thinking of it.
(Note: I have nothing against either of them and think Joanne Woodward is superb. I just cannot imagine anyone else in any of the roles here. This is a perfectly cast movie.)

I agree with you, itsmeladyp. I think this was a perfectly cast movie, just the way it was. I was always a Hayley Mills fan, but this movie turned me into a Deborah Kerr fan, too.
Has anyone else noticed this movie hasn't been shown on TV in YEARS. The last time I remember it being aired on CINEMAX was around 1993!

I also love this movie and have been begging to see it for years! Finally last night, Turner showed it. I recorded it in case it's another 23 years before it is shown again. Psychological dramas are my favorites.
Agree with you about Joanne and Sandra. Woodward may have been considered because of "Eve" and the Mills pair made a good package.
