Favourite Lines from 'Cleo'???

"Cleo" is my all-time favourite of the "Carry On" collection.

I never get tired of watching it, and just love the costumes and settings. The sight and verbal gags are just SOOOO spot on!

My favourite verbal is between Kenneth Williams as Caesar and Sid James as Marc Anthony:

M: "It's this Ptolmey - he's trying to usurp Cleopatra."

C: "He's trying to do WHAT to her?"

M: "Usurp her..."

C: "Sounds positively revolting!"

<HA> <HA> <HA> Classic!

My second favourite is upon Caesar's triumphant return to Rome, when he gives an unsuccessful speech to the heckling populace, who are "right behind him" and falling about in laughter. He is ultimately pelted with rotten fruit, and as he is drawn away to safety by Marc Anthony, he finalizes his appearance with:

"Just remember my motto - 'Nihil Expectorante im Omnibus'.....'No Spitting on the Public Transport'..."

Also, early on in the movie before the Romans invade Cockium, a young cave man drags a cave girl past by her hair:

Horsa: "There's no prettier sight than a young couple courting."

Hengist: "Yeah…..makes you want to get your club out and have a bash yourself."

<HA> <HA> Too......... :o)

They don't make this sort of stuff any more, alas..........
