Favorite Scene?

For me, it would have to be the wild party where Rina ends up in the chandelier...cracks me up every time I see it.

I'd go for the fight between Jonas and Nevada Smith; the whole fight is great but it's highlighted by the bizarre move where Smith ends up upside down on Jonas' back, the odd way Jonas falls over the coffee table and climaxes with Jonas fighting with a sheet over his head.

OMG God rest Alan Ladd's soul but god damn his fight scenes in all of his movies are hilarious and this one was his final one with him all fat n washed up and he came through in the end well his stuntman did lol hahaha. The sound effects were awesome too when Nevada gets flipped HAHA! U wanna see a good one watch Guns of the Timberland

I agree Red. I watched this movie with my mother at a drive inn theatre and she was a big Alan Ladd fan. We saw it after Alan Ladd had passed away. When he was fighting with Jonas my mother kept saying and cheering: "Get him Alan!"
It was hilarious and I am glad for her that Alan won this fight and helped straighten Jonas out.

I enjoy seeing Alan Ladd in the movies, but I'm really bothered by his height. Hollywoods' ridiculous attempts to hide it really distract me when Alan is involved in any action. Before the aforementioned fight scene, notice where his knees are in relation to the coffee table and in conjunction with George Peppards knees. Instead of watching the upper torsos, watch the legs of both actors.
There, now I've ruined it for everyone. Sorry.

Watch "Shane", it's even more prevalent.

I agree, it's the fight at the end I love.

Obi-Wan is my hero!

Yeah, I liked the sound effects in the "fight" where the punches were missing by a foot.

I'm in agreement with the people who enjoyed seeing Alan Ladd give the Peppard character his comeuppance in this movie with the fight scene, and I especially loved it when Peppard kept threatening him after the fight was over, and Ladd would not back down. Very satisfying after a whole movie of watching everyone (but Ladd) knuckle under to Peppard's sleazy character.

My favorite is the scene when George Peppard, watching a scene being filmed, realizes that Rina, as he brought sandwiches to the crew, would be more appealing to audiences than the actress being filmed.

I have two favorite scenes.

First, when Martha Hyer takes the cigarette out of the box, puts it in her mouth, and lights it. Quite sexy.

Second, at the hotel in Chicago, when Martha walks over to George Peppard, and you see her from behind, and she loses the mink coat in the mirror and then we discover that she has nothing on underneath. Real sexy scene, especially for the 60s. Martha Hyer had one great body.

I 'd consider the scene with Jonas' outburst in the fatal dark room, the meaning of which will be revealed to the viewer near the end of the movie.Everything is powerful in that scene:acting, lighting, shivering music score, definitely gives a sign of Jonas' hidden secrets that torment him throughout his whole life.Bravo Edward Dmytryk!!!!

I love Robert Cummings as Dan Pierce through the whole movie. Cummings was a great actor in both dramas and comedies and he is really good in this. (Hitchcock recognized his talent and used him twice, in Saboteur and in Dial M for Murder.)

My favorite scene of Dan's is when Jonas asks him how low he thinks he can go, in millions, to buy Norman Studios. The offer on the table from Bernard Norman is five million.

Unknown to Jonas, Norman has cut Dan in on a percentage of the final purchase price in exchange for getting it done quickly. Dan replies, "Oh four.....and a half."
