'Dark Shadows' set?

Grudge's home looked an awful lot like Collinwood from the old "Dark Shadows" serial. Both were ABC, and "Carol" aired about a year before "DS" began, so I'm guessing the set was built for Carol, then re-used, in a much scaled-down form, for DS.

Anyone know anything about this?

The sets for DS were designed specifically for the series by Sy Tomashoff. They were not recycled from this, or any other, program.

However, this program does have a connection to DS: Arthur Ornitz, the cinematographer, photographed the first feature film adaptation of the series, House of Dark Shadows.

xdayton... Thank you! I thought the exact same thing. I actually shouted "that's Collinwood" when Ben Gazzara comes into the house. The Collinwood entrance, drawing room paneling w/arch fireplace, stairs.

I just went back and checked an old DS episode. The mantle & the wood on the stairs were different, and you never saw a second flight of stairs at Collingwood either. But it does look like bits of the same set were used.

Glad I'm not the only Dark Shadows fan to notice this!
