A Favorite

Although this movie has the lowest production values of all the AIP beach movies, it does have several things going for it. For one thing, some people feel it is the most fun of all the AIP beach parties. The Brian Wilson/Roger Christian/Gary Usher songwriting team was replaced by Guy Hemric & Jerry Steiner (Styner). Not that it is an improvement, but a little different. Patti Chandler is introduced and has several great scenes. Frankie plays a dual role, which I think he does well. Annette is in her most revealing two-piece bathing suit. After this movie, she only wore one piece swimwear. There's a surfing gorilla. Keenan Wynn & Martha Hyer lend their many years of acting expertise. Donna Loren has her first solo and her only appearance in a two-piece bathing suit. The only AIP beach movie with dragsters. Great performance by surf band The Pyramids. I think the beach movie craze was at it's crest and AIP rushed this one out, without proper editing or special effects. But it was fun and a BIG money maker for AIP.
