I signed it. Good work Sean.

I signed it too!!! Thanks Sumdeus!!!

reply

Thanks Incitatusthehorse and chadport! In all my viewings this is the greatest movie I have seen that is not available on DVD, which is a shame given the ridiculous amount of poor films and bad TV series that have already been released on DVD. PLEASE PUT A SPECIAL DVD EDITION OUT!!!

reply

I signed ot too, with both my email adresses... thanx for doing this, but only 68 votes so far... maybe it is a cursed piece. Some day, a big star will bring it to the theatre, and then hopefully, they will see money on becket's face and release a few copies of the film.

reply

They did. The restored version was shown at last summers Tribeca film festival. I contacted them to find out who owned the damn thing and they were singularly unhelpful.

reply

Signed.

99 signatures in total now.

"Anne of the Thousand Days" has just been released in Scandinavia in a rather inexpensive (SEK 129 = USD 16.27) widescreen edition with optional subtitles in the Scandinavian languages and English.I ordered it today and cannot report on the quality, but almost anything on DVD is better than Pan/Scan VHS.

I will sign your petition (a hundred times over) if I can figure out how to do it. I hope this did. And I'm shocked at the comment in the abnove review about the audiences of 1960. This person needs to learn a little more about that period, to put it mildly. "Becket" was well received upon its release and I know many people who loved it.

reply

Thanks so much for starting this petition! Why it's not released yet is beyond me- especially when so many countless & vastly inferior, lesser-known films are out on dvd.....I signed.

YOU HAVE MY VOTE.

I THINK IT IS IMCOMPREHENSIBLE THAT, AT A TIME WHEN SKY & OTHER MEDIA ARE FLOODING THE TV SCREENS WITH PAP, A FILM SUCH AS "BECKET" HAS BEEN CONSIGNED TO THE SHREDDER OR WHEREVER.

I HAVE NO QUARREL WITH THOSE WHO VOTED "FORREST GUMP" FOR AN OSCAR.

TO EACH HIS OWN.

BUT "BECKET" SCORES ON EVERY LEVEL.

DOES ANYONE KNOW HOW TO LOCATE A COPY? IN ANY FORMAT, PREFERABLY DVD?

MY E-MAIL ADDRESS IS [email protected] CALL ME IF YOU KNOW, PLEASE.

THERE IS A WEALTH OF MATERIAL FROM THE 50'S & 60'S THAT HAS BEEN CONSIGNED TO THE WASTEPAPER BASKET.

TIME TO MAKE A NOISE & PUT PRESSURE ON THE LIKES OF AMAZON & PLAY.COM TO OPEN THESE FILMS TO A HUNGRY PUBLIC.

SEE MY COMMENTS ON "TOI LE VENIN" (ROBERT HOSSEIN FRANCE) AND "A COLD WIND IN AUGUST" (1961) ALEXANDER SINGER; USA. BOTH THESE FILMS ARE BRILLIANT, YET ONE NEVER HEARS OR SEES THEM ON OFFER.

I have signed the petition too (#170). I have been trying to find this movie for years. I own the original sound track on a LP record (if anyone remembers what that is). I still drive my family crazy by quoting lines from the movie. I hope it comes out soon.

reply

I have also signed the petition. Becket is my all-time favorite movie and it's just incomprehensible that it's not out on DVD yet!

reply

Good going. I have been WAITING for this to come to DVD forever!! This excellent film is right up there with LION IN WINTER. Two of the BEST actors going at it on screen, giving their best performances. Why is it taking sooooo long???? Any update on the status of this coming to DVD soon????

Wherever you go, there you are.

I am a newbie and have signed as soon as I found out about the petition. I've been searching for the movie high and low and hope the petition will be successful.
Thanks for starting it.

# 225 ... and counting! Thanx for doing this...
