Music Score opinion

****POSSIBLE SPOILERS****

This is a great movie. One of the best ever made. The script, the acting and direction were all great.

One thing though that I didn't like too much was Laurence Rosenthal's music score and am quite surprised that it was nominated for an Academy Award and Golden Globe award. I didn't think it was that appealing and sounded like a bunch of noise of drums and horns.

Don't get me wrong, it isn't all bad. Some of it is okay such as the music played when Becket is struck down in the Cathedral and when Becket is arrested. The ending music is good to. But I think the score itself was pretty weak.

I would have hired the great John Barry to score the film of Georges Delerue.

But these are just my opinions.

What does everybody else think?

I'd have to hear it outside of the film, because my memory of the music isn't very strong (which isn't a great sign). I remember the striking opening title music but little else.

Nothing that happens on Earth is unknown to Santa Claus!
