the aunt + the femme fatale?

SERIOUS SPOILERS:

OK, after Arthur and his uncle have their kind of slapstick shootout, the rich guy appears and grabs the money from the doghouse and runs up the stairs. A woman comes out and greets him. It is the aunt who we thought was dead. There is a lot of story here that seems to be glossed over. Did Odile and the aunt plan the whole thing of moving the money, playing dead, having Arthur and his mobster uncle shoot it out, just so Odile could end up with Franz? It rather seems that way to me. This would make Odile the femme fatale who manipulates both of the goofballs to her ends, while seeming the whole time a mousey innocent.

It seeems a very good perspective. Haven't thought of that yet.

Except I wouldn't describe her as the "femme fatale" thing, I don't think it fits on this movie.

But it's a nice point of view. I like these kind of ambiguous stories.

so you thought that the aunt was alive at the end?

"SEDAGIVE?"

reply

I don't think that has ever been in question. The aunt appears at the end alive and healthy, so yeah... I thought she was alive.

What I didn't think of, and for that I give you my credit, is a possible manipulation by Odile just to profit from it. I didn't think of that possibility, I just saw the movie and had a great time. But we can extend your theory even far ahead: Odile AND the aunt made that manipulation. Odile would gain Franz and some money they would find inside the house and the aunt would profit something too, I dunno.. the love of the uncle for she was almost killed, bla bla bla.. lol It's just a possibility, maybe I'm stretching the thing too much.

I usually don't give the ending or the conclusion of a story much credit, I just enjoy when I am watching certain movie. The story and its meaning, in certain movies as this one, are secundary. That is why I did not think of that thing before. I guess I just considered it "normal", unintentional... but now you cleared things a little bit for me.

Or, possibly, the aunt faked her death because she was scared. In any case, how did she get out of the armoire?

Do you know who I am? I am a huge fan of radio control!

reply

When they checked her out and said that she was dead, they left the armoire open...
