I agree the top 250 is largely a joke filled with way too many new movies, but that is partially just down to the fact that a film needs 25,000 votes to even be in contention for that list. A "foreign" film from the 60s is never going to get that many votes.
Just don't take the list too seriously. Good things are often unpopular and what should really matter is how you feel about a film not how random people on the internet decided to score it.
