Tim Burton should remake this

This is such a magical movie and it will be great if Tim Burton would do a remake

reply

Tim Burton should not remake anything...ever again!

It's only a movie...

reply

WHY? There is nothing wrong with it AS IS.

reply

I am watching it right now. Tim Burton has turned into a hack anyway.

Tim Burton and Johnny Depp need to say in the industry jargon,'retire',now since I am using the industry jargon, retire is about a few years at the most. I just saw "7 Faces" and it still holds that magic when I saw it when it first came out.

You *know* that if Burton remade this, he'd cast Depp in it. Someone made a good case for these two taking a professional separation, that they like each others work so much that there's no conflict, and thus no creative sparks. I like both of these guys a lot but, yeah.

reply

Oh, God, no, Burton would want Depp to do all the characters! That would be horrible! The wild west would go goth! Ewwww!

I just responded that Deep would be good. This movie has a framework that might contain him. But if it doesn't he could overpower the role. Maybe a director other than Mr. Burton could control the performer.

first-things-first: "I just responded that Deep would be good. This movie has a framework that might contain him. But if it doesn't he could overpower the role. Maybe a director other than Mr. Burton could control the performer. "

I take it by Deep, you meant Depp. Hopefully after the Lone Ranger debacle, the delusion that Depp brings great diversity to his performances is over and he won't be considered for any more projects such as this one, Barnabas, Sweeny Todd, etc., and won't be allowed to ruin them anymore, going at it as badly as Will Farrell.

Unless you meant Deep Roy, who played the Oompa Loompas in that Wonka travesty. Yea, even he would be better in the role of Dr. Lao over Depp.

reply

Thanks for the typo alert, I meant Depp. But your recast could put a different spin on the story, if you are speaking of the Wonka remake sidekick. Different symbols but the same morals.

NO!!!! It would be a disaster if ANYBODY re-made this marvelous movie. If you don't have Tony Randall as Dr. Lao...then, you don't have this movie. All the artsy-fartsy high-tech crap they do now would ruin the hell out of it~~~let it alone!!

reply

And yet, I'd maybe be okay with it if it was 1980s Tim Burton who directed it - the guy who put loving homage to George Pal/Ray Harryhausen stop-motion in 'Pee-wee's Big Adventure' and 'Beetlejuice'.

reply

Bite your tongue.

Sadly, Hollywood only remakes good movies that don't need to be remade. So it'll probably happen.
