Sub jumping out of the water


That would kill or my likely injure the crew with the way the sun comes vertical out of the water like that .

It's called breaching. Sailors are taught what to do in an emergency so that they don't die. You can Google it, and you can find videos on YouTube.

I've been in a "dive-and-drive" Trident sub trainer and got to experience what it feels like to be at the angle for breaching, but they didn't crash it down.

And that shovel-head bow would have a lot of impact force to it; much more than a conventional sub. This probably explains why the Flying Sub crashed about 50% of the times it was deployed - as I recall, it was berthed directly under the bow, which means it got hammered every time the sub breached.

Yep. That type of breach is only used in extreme emergencies. But it looks so cool, it is overused in media. :-)
