I always thought John Barry's Zero-X Theme from THUNDERBIRDS ARE GO was very impressive. Just listening to it on CD gives me goosebumps!

I have the Thunderbirds soundtrack on CD. Barry Gray composed some solid work for the TV show. It rocks!

Which one do you have? (There are so many of them floating around these days). Did you pick up the ulitimate collection with the CD-Rom disc with all the promotional stuff on it?

reply

UFO for sure. I used to rush home from school to make sure I saw it one time. I loved the beeping at the beginning and the wigs of the women (very punky for the era). This thread reminds me to get it out of DVD if it is available (although I'd be disappointed if it wasn't that good, since I remember it so fondly).

Not too certain but I think it could be "The March Of The Thunderbirds", but it's the score for when the Crablogger runs into trouble.

One question though even though it may be off topic. Is the music in "Pit Of Peril" when the armies thing majig gets stuck in the pit, the same music as in "Path Of Destruction" when the Crablogger runs into trouble?

If it's the theme I *thinking* that you're referring to, it's actually "March Of The Oysters," which was originally written for the series "Stingray." It's used pretty liberally in "Thunderbirds" as well, whenever Gray wanted a theme which encouraged the sense of a marching, marauding or invading entity.

reply

No I don't think it is "March Of The Oysters" John, because i know a bit in
a Stingray episode that I watch religiously where the oysters attached to the Stingray craft leave to go home to their giant cursed pearl and oyster etcetera and so fourth. They carry the huge pearl infact. However the music seems different to the track I'm thinking of.Pit of Peril etc, and Path Of Destruction. I wonder what it is?

You must be right...

I can't believe no one has mentioned "Joe 90." That is my favorite Barry Gray theme. "UFO" is a very close second and "Thunderbirds" would be a close third.

My favorite incidental (non-theme) music is probably "White As Snow" from Captain Scarlet.

"Dangerous Game" is a great tune, too. I'd love to perform that one sometime.

The music when the Martian Space Probe rocket is crossing Allington Suspension Bridge (and in several other scrapes)

The minor-key reworking of the Thunderbirds theme when the guys are rolling up their sleeves and getting down to business
