Harold wants to try out new things or go to new places without his father there, and Albert criticises him for them, and eventually tries out these things for himself and proves himself to always be better than his son, and Harold just sullenly slinks back to his lowly place in the Steptoe household, never to better himself?
Was there NEVER an episode in which Harold managed any of this?
Wasn't there an episode where Harold booked a holiday for them both, then it turns out something has gone wrong so that Harold can't go and Albert goes by himself? Harold acts all disappointed until his father leaves, then celebrates. It's just been a ruse to get rid of him for a few days.
shareI think I may have seen that episode, but it's been a LONG time. It's a step in the right direction, but I always thought that Harold didn't want to stay in the house, neither. But I suppose it's better than having Albert calling his name in that annoying way, isn't it?
