Bramble was only 50

when he was in A Hard Day's Night? He looked about 80.

reply

Wilfrid had been playing old men even before "A Hard Day's Night" which earned him a reputation for playing such parts. He was playing older men in his early 40s in such shows as "Nineteen Eighty-Four" and "Quatermass II". He did look older than he was. He was only in his 50s and 60's when he played Albert Steptoe, but looked to be in his late 70s, especially in the later seasons and films.

I always think that wearing that cloth cap in 'A Hard Day's Night' helped Wilfrid Brambell look old in the film. Not that he needed much help. I think he is one of those actors born to play old men, as his Albert Steptoe portrayal proves.
