Hey, what happened to the boat?

I don't remember what became of it. I remember seeing it washed up on shore in the early B&W episodes, but they clearly didn't attempt to repair it. Did it wash out to sea during a storm?

reply

They tried to repair it with some glue the professor made from some syrup Gilligan found. It ended up disintegrating the boat.

Thanks. Probably the only time the professor's input made things worse?

reply

I may be wrong, but as i recall the Professor didn't develop the glue. Gilligan accidentally found it. It was supposed to be, IIRC, be perfect, for two days. Then it released anything it was used for.

Ah..

reply

Yes I remember that episode. Gilligan actually end up saving them because I think he was late getting on the boat before they cast it out to sea. And right before they launched, the boards all started flying off the boat. Gilligan was a hero, because if he had been on-time, they all would've drowned.

So after all those shows you wonder what happened to the boat... I always wondered by the girls didn't be knocked up... even if none of the castaways was man enough it wasn't as if they didn't have a revolving door of men washing up on the island from episode to episode.

The professor was also knowledgeable about things like the eventual synchronized timing of the menses and had several homeopathic remedies devised from the island flora and fauna for contraception at the ready. A Renaissance man if you will.

reply

If they had the raw materials and tools to build huts, they should have been able to build a boat or seaworthy raft.

reply

They eventually made a successful houseboat out of that stuff in "Rescue from Gilligan's Island"
