DISASTER PREPARATION

I'm currently watching an episode on Antenna TV where Sandy and Bud are boarding up their house and bringing outdoor objects (bikes, lawn chairs) inside in preparation for the onslaught of a tsunami.
Hurricanes and tidal waves are probably fairly regular in the Coral Gables area, so wouldn't there have been much more damage to the house and pier?
As it was, all there was was debris that could easily be cleaned with a garden hose.

Here in the northeast, some people still haven't fully recovered from Hurricane Sandy.

Ha! I just watched the same episode on Antenna. I don't think I've seen Flipper since I was a kid when it was first on. What a remarkably dumb show, with the "actors" reciting their lines like they were staring into space (which, of course, they were, as the dolphin shots were clearly added later).

Kind of a hoot, though. And Ranger Rick, woof!

The one they showed before that was even goofier. Flipper got concussed by an explosion, lost his memory, and thought he was someone else's pet!

"Oh, well" said Zanoni, "to pour pure water in the muddy well does but disturb the mud !"

I have actually been inside their house in the 60's and though it was a house only for outside shoots, as all interiors where filmed at Ivan Tors Studios in North Miami, the house survived two back to back strong hurricanes, Cleo in 1964 and Betsy in 1965 with very little damage.
