...exactly like this post, sandcrab. As usual, one wonders why someone bothers to watch a series that gripes them to this degree. At that time there was little money to shoot television on location. Cameras were huge, they weren't portable and location expenses were enormous. It's easy to recognize the outdoor filming locations that were used for other television series I've seen, including
Have Gun - Will Travel,
Star Trek,
Gunsmoke,
Bonanza and others. I've even seen a few outdoor locations used in
Angel the Series for Pylea, the alternate dimension. Rather than irritation I felt fondly about seeing them again.
Kentucky is a developed state with a high population of people and horse country. For its time,
Daniel Boone was a bona fide ground breaking Western series. When Daniel Boone was alive the territory of Kentucky was the West. Most settlement of the United States of America took place beginning with the Eastern Seaboard. For that matter, so was Florida where I live. Cowboys got their start down here wrangling cattle. We were the Wild West. Imagine that, young man. How do I know you're a young man? Guess.
Sandcrab, you're guilty of the Historian's Mistake. You're judging the past by your limited frame of reference and view from the present. You're not the first and you won't be the past. If you're interested in seeing a Western that was shot on location, look for
Have Gun - Will Travel. It's very accurate as to costumes, sets and locations except that there are zippers in men's and women's costumes. Travel time is the only issue but if it took the weeks and months for Paladin to get to the places he needed to be, the problems would be resolved when he arrived. That requires the same willing suspension of disbelief needed in every television and film, or don't you watch science fiction and fantasy? Newsflash: alien planets are recreated here on Terra for filming as we're unable to film in space as yet.

Indeed. He still has an active career which is more than can be said for the majority of adult child actors, unfortunately.
