Mingo, Jemina, just seemed to disappear from this show...Now, I know 'other shows' have had the 'sibling goes upstairs, FOREVER!' (Happy Days, Family Matters, Step by Step..) BUT these were main characters, not,just passing thru..
Did anyone HERE watch the show during its ORIGINAL run? Did Anyone ask where/what happened to these actors/characters?
Same thing happened to Chester on GUNSMOKE and no one ever asked what had happened to him. He up and disappeared but no one asked where he went. It's an early case of 'don't ask, don't tell.

Really I think Yadkin (Albert Salmi) was one of very few, truly main characters with a brief stay (Season 1 only). Mingo (Ed Ames) was on for YEARS.
As far as Jemima (Veronica Cartwright), I'm a big fan, and she did stay for 2 seasons -- but with the exception of some eps that focused one her, she wasn't really all that much more important than the Chuck character on "Happy Days" you've alluded to.
The core of the show was always Dan, Becky, and Izzy (Israel) -- and others like Cincinnatus supported as very longrunning characters.

Oh yeah, I agree. Salmi was excellent in that Twilight Zone ep, one of my favorites. It's hard to imagine anyone better suited to the role, or doing a better job. (I love the "Johnny-come-lately" rage.) Russell Johnson was well-cast in that too.
