Did Benny ever get that spanner?

Just curious there a scene where Welsh mechanic Sid Hooper asked Benny to get a spanner only to end where Benny wasn't on Crossroads for months to come back from holidays with presents but no spanner.

It never happened. The story as Paul Henry says on his interview at: www.crossroadsfanclub.co.uk he made it up.

He did go up to put the fairy on the Xmas Tree in 1987 - and never came back down however.

According to Stan Stennett who played Sid Hooper he still waiting for that spanner.

It sound's similar to Tracey Barlow in Coronation Street always being up in her room playing on her PC, then some years later she finally comes downstairs as a completely different person!

and Sally Webster kept on feeding her kids fish fingers and chips.

Didnt she always go upstairs to 'play tapes'?

Didn't the chef in Crossroads, Shooey Mcfee (spelling?) go into the kitchen for some angel delight or something and never come back out?

Yes, I remember hearing about Tracy going upstairs to listen to her tapes, or in one Coronation Street Christmas episode in 1990 or 1991, (where Deirdre was not tarty back then dressed in a modest dress, had a funny perm and big owl glasses LOL) Tracy says she may go upstairs and listen to her music, instead of hanging out with Ken and Deirdre in the living-room, the apparent cool parents. LOL

Also, I remember hearing about Sally serving Rosie and Sophie fish fingers and beans, as opposed to chips.

I can't remember where I read that, but yep, Benny putting the fairy on the Christmas tree and not coming back down. On a TV programmes show and Crossroads featured, Tony Adams aka Adam Chance said about Glenda Brownlow of the yellow handbag went to the lavatory and didn't come back for a year and Shughie McFee is still in the fridge (or maybe freezer) looking for a pork chop. LOL

These stories are all myths .. in reality the actors were just taking a break ... for example if the kitchen wasn't featured for a while then chef Shughie wouldn't be seen, same as Benny he would often go and visit his Gran over at Peachey farm and Diane would go to visit her son in America or waitress Glenda would go over and work in the Crossroads Cafeteria.
They didn't literally go into a freezer and not come out or go up a ladder and not come down

And the reason Tracey was always upstairs playing her tapes in Corrie was that child actors were under strict laws as to how long they could work so often couldn't be seen on screen
