Two plot ideas that might have been fun

1. Sam gets a part time job during the day while the kids are in school. Endora is disgusted and wreaks mischief.

2. After yet another witch vs. mortal debate between Darren and Endora, Sam challenges Darren and Endora that for a week, she tries mortal life and he tries magic life. I know these ideas were explored in the dodo bird episode where Endora lost her powers, and in fact a couple with Darren - but in this case, the two of them try to "top" the other's progress at his/her attempts at a different lifestyle. All the while, each of them are making a mess of things.

Sam getting a job if the show had gone on longer (and Elizabeth Montgomery wasn't totally bored and done with Bewitched) would have been an interesting premise.

A few years ago a series called 'Forever' debuted and sadly, only lasted one season. The lead character was over two hundred years old and didn't look a day over thirty five. Part of the premise was that he seemed to have an encyclopedic knowledge of the past. It was "almost" as if he'd lived through it. None of hos co-workers knew, but he HAD lived through it.

I could imagine Samantha getting a job in an antique store. Just HOW would she explain her great knowledge of old things? Or a job as a teaching assistant to a history professor. She'd probably be able to teach the class.

But Bewitched just didn't go in that area. The last few seasons were old, recycled scripts and rehashed stories.

I suppose it depends how much Sam experienced history. It seems to irk Endora that she is living among the mortals. Was she confined to the witches realm for a time?

Love the reference to Forever. Fans are still trying to get it brought back.

There were a few episodes when Sam and Darren went back in time and Sam fit right in with the customs and dialect. She's much older than she looks.

That would be great if 'Forever' was brought back! I hate the way it ended on a cliffhanger. And I liked the cast. I never get tired of seeing Judd Hirsch.

I think Samantha spent a lot of time in the mortal world. What irked Endora was the fact that Darrin was now first in her daughter's life. Endora lost her place as number one in Sam's life. In the first season she whisked her off to Paris for lunch and they went to a fashion show.

In several episodes Sam seemed to understand French and Italian. Not hard to believe, she had years, centuries probably, to learn other languages.

Her family didn't seem opposed to the mortal world. Maurice quoted Shakespeare all the time and went to the theater. Aunt Clara had once been a lady-in -waiting to Queen Victoria.

In the Thanksgiving episode when Clara sent them back to the first Thanksgiving, Darrin said to Sam, "I didn't know you spoke Pilgrim."

Job storylines would make sense to audiences if the show aired late 1970's...

even if the show used magic she still mostly respected the customs of the mortal world (such as paying with money for most things when she could have just taken them).

Pregnancy discrimination was permitted until 1978 and the show ended in 1972. Samantha knew she was never going to get a job with two little kids and/or pregnant/
