Too Bad This Site Didn't Catch On

A ton of imdb regulars joined us all here with great fan fare, then....fizzle. I tried with
some recent posts, but the site is pretty dead. Again, too bad.

Hey, Bennett.

It's pretty depressing. There just aren't enough people on ANY of the boards to make it interesting.

The IMDB community is scattered and splintered. Some are on one board, some are on another. Some have probably given up all together.

I only visit here and "IMDB 2.0". There's a lot of chatter over there (similar to the "general discussion" here), but nothing of real substance.

This board looks nice, but archiving all the old threads isn't the answer. That's all water under the bridge.

It will take years for any of the new boards to have the substance that IMDB had.

On top of which, the Garland board had been dead for YEARS, overtaken by that twit, Metalman. He seems to
have vanished, but there's nobody over there. I don't know about Randy. PVD295 is now under a different
screen name, but he and I only share interest in the Streisand stuff, and HER board is dead.

I have noticed that "Twilight Zone" has gotten active, although it's a very clique-ish board, and I rarely post
there.

Pipurple and I are the only ones interacting here, except for an occasional post/reply from Adamdurance.

What happened to all the "Bewitched" fans?

reply

Sorry. Work has been busy and I usually come home exhausted. I do look many times but don't always feel inspired to start a topic. Kind of a lot of pressure to be one of the few as opposed to swimming in a group.
That said I've been reading a lot on the actors this past year and know the show much more. Now I'm learning of some of the writers. I used to be able to submerge myself in the show but now I think I know to much about it to do that anymore.

Interesting that Asher based the show on the movie Shane. Using his gun only when all else failed.

reply

Actually, I love that they have archived all the old threads on here. What a tremendous source of information, and a clear differentiator.

I only wish they would bring back all the old archived threads for the actors and actresses also.

I hope you guys don't mind if I butt in. I wanted to say that the boards are sluggish at times, but it doesn't mean we are dead. What I would do is keep going and getting out the word. I myself have started watching shows and getting involved so that way it doesn't feel boring. Maybe get involved in some games. I know it looks bad, but you should've seen it three weeks ago and now it's not me or dazed keeping the trending section going.

Imdb wasn't busy at first either and took time to gain an audience. My best advice is branch out, find those who share similar interest and get involved. So far I felt welcomed in many cliques. I know imdb was different, but we have a chance to start over and become new people. I hardly remember betwitched, but if I see a question and someone who is a poster here and not an archive I answer until I can't think of anything else to say.

Imdb2 isn't doing better as I went over out of curosity and its dying slowly. Many threads are empty and most are posting to one dead thread. I say don't give up or the site will die. Invite people, get involved and make new friends

By all means "butt in"!!! LOL We can use the company.

As gbennett says, I'm still here. I keep checking in, hoping for new posts and discussions. I'm sure the IMDB site wasn't built in a day either! It takes time.

I found IMDB when I was looking up some movie trivia. When I saw that it had message boards I was so excited. I thought, "How long has THIS been going on??"

Over the years I saw posts from people who also found the site. Some people were just lurking and decided to chime in. Hopefully there are lurkers here who will become inspired to join in the discussions and post. I haven't given up hope.

Strannger- if you can't think of anything, just ask anyway! lol The diehard fans of Bewitched love to answer any and all questions, start new topics, whatever. We just have to do our part to keep this site going.

reply

Well I know Antenna tv shows it as I see it alot in commercials in the morning. I may start watching. Well maybe I will. Just be patient as I do remember some things, but some are fuzzy and I don't know if I messed it up with I dream of Jeanne.

reply

I'm here too!!! And I miss everyone!!

reply

Glad to have you fellow pilgrim. We are happy and will welcome anyone.

reply

I loved the IMDB board. I'm going to make it a point to bring up more topics :)

reply

Well let me ask you mil were you also a lurker? If so like I was encouraging the others this site was different and you can anyone you wanna be. So yes get out, contribute and make it work for ya. You'll meet some great people.

reply

I was very active over on IMDB. Yes I'm going to help make the board more alive :)

reply

Yes. Really sad to see such a good site reduced to being controlled by trolls in sheep's clothes. They essentially killed this site.

reply

Really, Ben? From what I've seen over the last two months, this site hasn't been "controlled" at all....just some nice
posters, a small group, from imdb.

Perhaps you can elaborate.

reply

You have to be part of this small group to be allowed to post here. Moderator1 is told who to ban and what posts to be deleted. They tell what content should be allowed. It is nothing like IMDb boards. IMDbarchive.com, hashed.io, themoviedb.org, and others are better options for you brah. IMDb boards were moderated automatically and hence so great. This place is now controlled by few people and their clique only.

reply

Not sure I buy it, although I haven't had one of my tizzy fits here yet, so I haven't been "edited" or "banned"
yet.

I do remember Bewitched at Harpies was awful. Unless you posted EXACTLY to their liking, out you went.
I wound up amused, as eventually they wound up a group of about six - six who rarely post anything.

They got what they deserved.

reply

Yes I looked at that site GB. Never did anything for me. The IMDB boards were much more fun.
