time travel in bewitched something i dont understand

what i never understand about bewitched is the time travel every time we see a spell cast on the show they get sent to the past or some one from the past comes
to the present and it had no side effect consequence like most witch shows they
have in today shows like if you reveal to much about the future it could change
the past

I always looked at time travel in BW as being sent to a state of suspended animation, with no consequence on future events. Characters have sometimes traveled back in time to "hang out" with people from another era just for fun. An example is when Aunt Clara is reminiscing about John Alden, Priscilla, and other Pilgrims. It made her "homesick" and she wanted to go back and visit them.
