Louise Tate

I notice that Larry always insist that clients be entertained at the Stephen's house instead of his own. I wonder if Louise put her foot down about not having to be a hostess?

reply

That might depend who's handling the client. Darrin's on a top level and Larry being above might just hand off some of that imposition of hosting the dinner down and still be comfortable that the client is in good hands.

There was an episode with Alice Ghostly playing a mortal maid where she was lent out to the Tate's to cater a dinner where Darrin was definitely not invited.

I'm sure that Darrin was given an expense account of some kind, as those dinners
Sam made were frequent and high-class.

Then again, maybe she was a terrible cook? 

There were a few times when the Tates, and even the clients themselves, did the entertaining even though the client was assigned to Darrin or some other executive. Aside from the aforementioned "Maid to Order," the Tates or the clients hosted in these episodes (in no particular order):

Humbug Not Spoken Here
Double Split
The Very Informal Dress
Snob in the Grass
To Twitch or Not to Twitch
Mirror, Mirror on the Wall (when toasting at the Tates, Darrin says, "To ME!")
Tabitha's Cranky Spell
The Short Happy Circuit of Aunt Clara (but due to the power outage, it moves to the Stephens). I love when the client sees Aunt Clara doing a jig: "I bet SHE knows where the brandy is."

I'm sure there are others, but they did give the Stephens a break now and then.

This was because there was such limited sound stage space. Most of the time,
"existing sets" (I Dream of Jeannie set, etc.) would be redressed for use. But
they weren't always available.
