question about a character

Hi, I posted this question on another board, as I'm not sure which show this character was from. Maybe you can help me? The character was a woman named Ava, Alta or Alma. I want to say Alma, but I'm not sure. She appeared to be real tall, intimidating, scary looking(wore scarves, glasses and trenchcoats), had a southern drawl and she was blackmailing/stalking the main character which on AW would be Rachel; almost seemed as though she were making Rachel doubt her own sanity. She either kidnapped Rachel and was holding her somewhere or she and Rachel had ended up in either a psyche ward or jail together. This storyline happened sometime between the late 70's and 1991. I just wondered what the storyline on this character was, why she was after Rachel(if I have the right show), if she was related to any of the other characters on the show and what happened to her.
I had thought she was killed off.

The storyline took place in the early 1980s, and the character's name was Alma Rudder. Caroline Franz was the name of the actress who played her.

I appreciate you replying to my post. Could you refresh my memory who this Alma Rudder character was, what her connection to Rachel Cory,et al was, why she was after Rachel and what happened to her character(I think she was killed off by one of the characters, but I'm not sure). Thanks.

she wasnt after Rachel she was after blain. blain was sandy corys girl friend at the time. she ended up being killed by blaines mother stabbed to death..

Okay why was she after blain in the first place?

It had something to do with Alma's brother who Blaine went out with. I remember when Cecile got info on Alma she went to Wyoming to visit her and explained to Alma that she didn't like Blaine Ewing and Alma said anybody who didn't like Blaine Ewing is a friend of mine and came back to Bay City and got a job at the Cory's estate and Cecile and her plotted such as finding info on Blaine and a music box and would call Blaine w/the same music and when Larry found out that Cecile purchased a music box and confronted her she played the music box and it was a different tune for Maggie. Anyhow Alma was putting LSD in Blaine's milk and the actress Elizabeth Franz was so good and believable made me rooted for Cecile and hate Blaine and it was sad when Elizabeth got casted in a play that she had to leave the show the first time but then she came back and got killed.

Okay, thankyou! Now it's starting to come back to me. Franz was wonderful as Alma; I had nightmares about her for months! She gave me the creeps. I still can't picture Blaine but like Iris, wasn't Cecile a blonde as well? I remember what a meddler and conniver Iris was and I could swear if I remember correctly so was Cecile. BTW, is Franz still acting? It seemed like they had a picture of her up for a while (she is looks nothing like the character Alma she portrayed--complete opposite) and now there isn't one.

Yes Cecile was a blonde and Blaine had dark hair. And Cecile was the force of conniving after Iris left to do Texas. They had to make sure they had a villianess right before Iris left and it was Cecile. I'm not sure if Franz is still acting or not. But when I remember her portrayal (and yes Alma was scary) that she left the show cause she was casted in a play and I assume once that was done that her agents probably contacted AW to let them know she was free and they wrote her back in for her demise.
