In season 1, episode 22, this episode is entitled "The Quetong Missile Mystery", and it takes place in Quetong, China. However, I have a Jonny Quest videotape manufactured by Junior Home Video of Calgary, Alberta in which the opening title shot is listed as "The Q Missile Mystery".

shareI like that site, but the writer is incorrect about video recording being nearly new technology at the time the show was in production, though, of course, the medium has advanced quite far since that time. Recording to videotape has existed since the late 1940s and the BBC was using video in 1952, twelve years before "Jonny Quest." Video machines didn't become more practical for industrial use until 1956 and didn't become more feasible and affordable for home use until 1975. Thankfully, the series writers (and chiefly Doug Wildey) spent a lot of time reading Scientific American and other technology-related magazines, so they were well able to implant what were fully feasible advances into the plots of the episodes. Beyond that, we really don't know what year the Quest family are meant to be living in, so they aren't anchored in the world of 1964 necessarily.
