ALL TIME GREATEST CARTOON THEME

It has the best cartoon theme song of all time

reply

Without a doubt, best cartoon series original theme music of all time. The best non-original series music being the Pink Panther theme.

"Remember me, Mr. Schneider? Kenya, 1947."

I have a hard time deciding "the best" between the original JQ theme, the "March Of The Thunderbirds" (the original and the "Thunderbirds Are Go" title theme) and the revamped JQ theme from the 1990s. I have them all on my iPod and I love them all...

Agreed, it's #1. I also have always gotten a kick out of how they show the characters with their respective names (including Bandit) during the title sequence, as if they are actors in a live-action show. Whoever thought of that was brilliant.

Carol lies like the rest of us breathe

It was the theme coupled with all the clips from the show in the opening credits.
I had the damn thing memorized after awhile.
Loved that show.

The other thing that is amazing is that every H-B theme sounds alike and here comes JQ with this massive theme song of pure awesome.

One time when we went to see the Brian Setzer Orchestra, they opened up with a killer version of this. The audience went slightly nuts (well, two of us anyway...). All that was missing were the clips on the screen behind the band. The BSO, imho, would be a great choice for the soundtrack for the upcoming movie.

reply

i rate it as best theme song ever for any television program.

> best theme song ever

I agree! The only themes coming close would be Cowboy Bebop (Tank) or Mod Squad... or Hawaii Five O (naturally).

reply

totally agree

"Pffft, my suspension of disbelief has higher standards than that"

JQ is definitely the all time best cartoon theme, but a close 2nd is the 60's Spider-Man. They use to jam back then. Scooby-Doo was excellent too.

Readiness is all.

I agree with your list and would add "Super Chicken" just because it's amazing in it's own demented way!

The most important thing is being sincere, even if you have to fake it. - Cesar Romero

I love to lift weights and I put the theme on when I'm lifting because it gives me strength!

It's one of the most awesome musical numbers ever.

reply

It was the sheer genius of Hoyt Curtin, who is surprisingly not credited on his imdb page for it. or on the Johnny Quest page either. A minor injustice IMHO.

Yeah,well,you know,that's just,like,your opinion,man.

Would love to see & hear this performed live. There would have to be an incredible horn/brass sections with trombones, trumpets, saxophone; probably woodwinds with clarinets, bassoone, & is that a flute for Race's theme? AND the percussion would be awesome with kettle drums, bongos, cha cha sticks, cymbals & some crazy electric keyboard. AND it could end with IIII-EEEEE-It is the Yeti, the Yeti!
