I was just wondering how violent is this film? Are we talking severed limbs?

I've only seen a couple (literally 2) of Suzuki's films, both examples of his early work. "Underworld Beauty" and "Tatooed Life". I know his later films are REALLY violent, how does this one compare?

And what about sexuality/nudity?

I would just like to know before I fork over 30 bucks for the Criterion DVD.

Your help would be very appreciated,

I wouldn't say the violence in Youth of Beast is excessive. There are no severed limbs, and the amount of blood is rather minimal (a bloody finger and blood soaked bandage from what I recall). There are far more violent movies out there such as Kill Bill. It's mostly a few fist fights and some implied nastiness that you don't actually see.

As for the sexuality and nudity, the most you see are some breasts for a very short time. It certainly isn't thrown in your face like a lot of the movies made these days.

there's also a scene where Jo Mizuno lights this guy's hair on fire, not that graphic, but def. entertaining to watch
