different ending

* Spoiler*

I recently saw it again and it ended with him plucking his eyes out in the tent. Didn't he do that outside, in the desert? I do remember that ending and I'm wondering why the version I saw ended differently. Has this been edited recently?

David Caruso - What better reason do you need to avoid CSI: Miami?

reply

No, you must be mis-remembering. I first saw it when I was 13 then didn't see it again for over 20 years and I had mis-remembered quite a few things.

That's also the way that I recall seeing it on WPIX's "Science Fiction Theater" during the '70s when I was a kid. However, I don't actually remember seeing his eyes plucked out (our family had a B&W television back then, so it would have been hard for me to tell the difference between his black eyes and then red sockets anyway). The movie must have been edited in a way to make it more kid friendly.

No blah, blah, blah!

just your memory playing tricks..he's out in the desert BUT inside a tent at a revival meeting
(I have a friend who swears he remembers watching the "I can still SEE!" scene, even though there is no such footage)

According to Stephen King's "Danse Macabre", there are versions which end with "I can still see!", but that scene was cut out for the initial release.

I remember that scene as well.
