Roy Scheider omitted from credits

Early in the film, the squad is seen relaxing after a battle in Italy. They show the squad, quote the casualties, and then show two German POW's leaning against a wall. This is done with a mix of period newsreel, plus then-current takes of the squad with film technique that replicates fuzzy, B&W newsreel film. If I'm not mistaken, the German POW on the left is Roy Scheider. This was early in his film career. Yet, there are many lesser figures listed in the credits.
